George Nelson (1908–1986), an American architect and industrial designer who is known to have led Herman Miller into the success it is today. He is regarded as the father of American modernism. George Nelson’s influence spread over much of the 20th century’s most iconic furniture, including the Action Office 2 (known as Office Cubicles today), the Marshmallow Sofa, Coconut Chair, Eye Clock, and the Sling Sofa.
