JBL is an mid-market American audio gear company that produces wide range of audio gear. It shares the same parent company as its slightly more upmarket sister brand, Harman Kardon. Its products are sold globally, both in better shopping malls and specialty audio equipment stores.
JBL has 2 independent divisions, JBL Professional and JBL Consumer within the company. As their names indicate, the divisions focus on products for 2 different market segments. For consumers, JBL offers a wide range of HiFi speakers, portable wireless speakers, headphones, soundbars, home theater systems, computer speakers as well as speakers, sub-woofers and amplifiers for cars. JBL’s products are stylish and well made, but don’t expect its headphones to be wrapped in soft Italian sheepskin.
JBL was founded by James Bullough Lansing in 1946, and it has grown to be one of the largest audio gear brands on the planet today.
