PS500e is the little brother of Grado’s Professional Series flagship PS1000e. PS500e is a rather rare on-ear headphone with open back design.

It comes with newly redesigned 44mm speakers and improved 8 conductor cable design and a smaller metal and wood hybrid air chamber. Both the hidden mahogany core and powder-coated aluminum housing parts under-go damping treatments that help control and dissipate resonances, for an undistorted flow of the musical signal. The PS500e boasts an overall sound that is pure Grado, with warm harmonic colors, rich full bodied vocals, excellent dynamics, and an smooth top end. The PS500e is a compact monitoring tool that will put a smile on the face of demanding music professionals, as well as audiophiles.

As with its bigger brother, the PS1000e, the sound they produce is airy and spacious, with all the different instruments sounding separate and clear. Although Grado PS500e is designed for professional mixing, it is equally suitable for portable use. As an open back headphone with relatively high impedance, you will get the best sound when it is driven by a decent headphone Amplifier / DAC. We recommend either the portable Oppo HA-2SE or the Audeze Deckard home use.
