You may not expect Samsung is near a near-century old company due to its high-tech gadgets that you are exposed to frequently. Samsung was originally founded by Lee Byung-chul, in 1938 in Samsung Town, Seoul, and since diversified into construction, shipbuilding, textiles, insurance, securities, retail and food processing. Samsung entered the consumer electronics market in 1960s, and began producing the gadgets that you are familiar with today. At present days, Samsung Electronics (its consumer electronics division) has become world's 2nd largest IT company. In total, Samsung's revenue is equivalent to approximately 18% of South Korea's GDP. In another word, Samsung represents nearly 1/5 of the entire South Korea.Samsung gadgets are generally well made, well featured and well priced, making it one of the most popular go-to-brand for nearly any gadgets. In recent years, Samsung has put in the much needed effort into creativity and innovations, and since produced some remarkable gadgets such as its Galaxy S-series smartphone, QLED TV and Samsung Gear wearable tech.
